Congress MLA from Dharchula Assembly constituency Harish Dhami has said that the State government should provide adequate compensation and other help to the people of Dharchula affected by heavy rain. In a letter written to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Dharchula MLA said that due to very heavy rains, the Kali river came in the spate and its surging waters damaged 58 houses in Dharchula and Khotila area of the district. He said that many people have been rendered homeless and reports of the death of a couple of people are also arriving from the district.
The MLA said that debris and silt has entered the shops in the Malli Bazar area of the Dharchula due to which the shopkeepers have suffered huge losses. The Congress leader said that apart from Dharchula reports of damage to property in Munsiyari area of Pithoragarh are also being received.
