With an enhanced customer self-service mobile application, the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has seen a significant increase in digital payments, surpassing 80 per cent. Notably, the focus of UPCL on improving the consumer self-service mobile app and other digital services has enabled consumers to access various electricity-related information and payment services from the comfort of their homes. This achievement was observed in September 2024 when UPCL’s digital payment rate exceeded 80 per cent. This shift towards digitalisation not only enhances consumer convenience but also saves time. Considering this, UPCL managing director Anil Kumar Yadav highlighted the future importance of digitalisation, particularly with the introduction of smart meters in consumer households. This advancement will offer consumers easy access to services such as bill payment, energy consumption details, complaint submissions and electricity assessments, he added.
He further said that in addition to the mobile application, customers can also be incentivised to utilise digital services by making online payments through various platforms such as the UPCL website www.upcl.org and popular Bharat Bill Payment mediums like Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay and others.
