Dinesh Shastri appointed VC of Uttarakhand Sanskrit University

The Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General (retd) Gurmit Singh has appointed Dinesh Chandra Shastri as the new vice chancellor of the Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, Haridwar. Shastri who is a professor in the department of Vedas in the Gurukul Kangdi Vishwavidyalaya would hold the chair of VC for a period of three years or till completion of maximum permissible age, whichever is early. The newly appointed VC has a teaching experience of more than 31 years and he holds MA in Sanskrit, PhD in Vedas and D Lit in the Rig Veda.
A search committee for the post of VC of Uttarakhand Sanskrit University was constituted in the month of March this year. A total of 35 applications were received by the committee and from them it selected a panel of candidates. The candidates of the panel were invited for an interaction with the governor who also is the chancellor of the University on August 22 after which Dinesh Shastri was selected.
