District admin issues numbers to stop vegetable vendors overcharging customers

While receiving complaints against the retail vegetable vendors fleecing the customers with impunity in Dehradun, the district administration has issued numbers on Wednesday using which the customers can complain about such issues.

Notably, since last week the district administration has been issuing the price list of vegetables to curb the overcharging trend in the retail markets.

However, several locals have complained that disregarding the price list being released by the district administration, the vendors continue to sell vegetables at higher prices than those stipulated by the administration.

Taking note of this, the district administration has issued contact numbers of the officers concerned through which the consumers can report their grievances. For those residing in the Rishikesh area, they can contact the supply inspector Vibhuti Jiyal and the market inspector Himanshu Rawat at 7983527643 and 7906951895 respectively. For those living in Dehradun city, they can contact the supply inspector Vijay Dobhal and the market inspector Ajay Dabral at 9412152554 and 9412382790 respectively. Further, for Vikasnagar, one can contact the regional food officer Surendra Singh Chauhan and the market inspector Pritam Dimri at 9690048981 and 9756655857 respectively.

The Dehradun district magistrate Sonika averred that the administration is going all-out to give relief to the customers.  “We formed teams and they are regularly conducting inspections of the vegetable markets. They are also putting up price list on the vegetable shops and the carts to ensure that the retail vegetable vendors cannot fleece the customers,” she added.
