District administration declares two more containment zones in Dehradun
Amid the increasing Covid-19 cases in the Dehradun district, the district administration declared two areas of two cities as the containment zones on Sunday. After the administration found Covid-19 positive patients in Nehru Colony area of Dehradun city and in Gumaniwala area of Rishikesh, the district administration declared the sites in these localities as containment zones and imposed lockdown in both areas under the Uttarakhand Epidemic Disease COVID-19 Regulation 2020 and the Disaster Management Act 2005.
All the commercial establishments including banks, shops and offices would remain closed in both containment zones till the further orders of the administration. According to the district magistrate, Ashish Kumar Srivastava, the police department would barricade all the entry and exit points of the containment zones and would ensure safety during the lockdown period. He also directed all the departments concerned like the district supply office, dairy department and the respective municipal corporations to provide all the required items and services to the locals during this period.
According to Srivastava, only one person from a family is allowed to make purchases for products of daily use from the mobile shops provided by the district administration during the lockdown period in the area. DM said that it is compulsory for everyone to abide by these rules in the containment zones and if anyone is found to be violating the rules, legal actions will be taken against them under various relevant acts. It will be recalled that Golway Cottage, Saint Georges School, Barlowganj in Mussoorie had been declared a containment zone in the past.
