District cooperative bank should distribute long and mid terms loans: Sonika

The registrar of the Cooperation department Sonika directed the officials concerned to ensure that the district cooperative bank distributes long-term and medium-term loans according to their targets. Chairing a review meeting on Friday, Sonika emphasised 16 important points necessary to increase the effectiveness and accountability of the department. Sonika also instructed the cooperative societies to publicise the schemes among the villagers and organise training seminars; for this, she directed the preparation of a roster from the districts.

She further highlighted the need to focus on increasing deposits, noting that deposits have increased by Rs 6.27 crore compared to last year. Additionally, she reviewed the progress of the societies and emphasised the importance of auditing all societies. She also reviewed the coordination between the district cooperative banks and their respective offices regarding loan disbursement and recovery, underscoring the need for intensive monitoring in these works. Sonika also emphasised the importance of maintaining an updated national cooperative database, ensuring transparency and access to information.
