Chamoli district Panchayat member Mamta Devi and her supporters formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party here on Monday. They joined the party at the BJP State office in the presence of the party’s State media coordinator Manveer Singh Chauhan.
Welcoming them, Chauhan said that development works in Uttarakhand are being executed at a swift pace under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s leadership. Every public representative is eager to contribute to regional development in his or her own way. He said that many Congress leaders and workers themselves are miffed at their leader Rahul Gandhi for insulting the OBC community. This is one of the reasons why those joining the BJP consist of a large number of Congress members, he claimed.
Mamta Devi and her husband Shanti Lal said that they were impressed with the works done by the BJP government and disappointed at the current policy of the Congress which is why they were shifting to the BJP. They alleged that the current Chamoli district Panchayat chairperson is consistently ignoring their area when it comes to development works.
