The district sports officer of Bageshwar Chandra Lal Verma was found dead at his residence under suspicious circumstances on Friday morning.
The police reportedly found the body when Verma’s driver reached his residence as he had not reached the office till noon. When he reached there, he called him from outside but did not get any response after which, he called the police. The police broke the door and found his body lying on the floor. The district magistrate of Bageshwar Anuradha Pal and the superintendent of police Himanshu Verma also reached the spot after getting information about the incident.
The SP said that the police have taken the body into custody to carry out post-mortem and other necessary procedures. He said, “The police found the officer’s body in his government residence. His body was lying on the floor. He had also reportedly vomited nearby. The body has been sent for post-mortem. The police have started investigating the incident and the cause of the death can be ascertained only after getting the postmortem report.” He said that the police have informed his family about the death and will hand over the body after completion of the procedures.
