DKC to hold event on Jagar Conservation Day in Doon

The Dandi Kanthi Club (DKC) will host a programme on September 17, to celebrate Jagar Conservation Day in Dehradun. DKC president Vijay Bhushan Uniyal said that Uttarakhand is renowned for its unique folk art and culture, with some folk genres having gained recognition both nationally and internationally.
The DKC is committed to preserving and promoting aspects of central Himalayan culture and, like in past years, this year also Jagar Conservation Day will be celebrated in which a programme will be orgnaised on September 17 at 5 PM in the Culture Department auditorium. During this event, accomplished artists dedicated to the preservation of Jagar, Pavade, folk songs, folk dances, folk instruments and other vanishing genres will be honoured.
He added that 11 outstanding individuals from various regions of the State will receive the State Musical Instrument Award 2025 and six persons who have made significant contributions in their fields will be awarded the Dandi Kanthi Ratna 2025. On this occasion, a wide array of literary figures, culture enthusiasts, representatives from various organisations and champions of the State’s folk culture are expected to attend.
This year marks the 8th celebration of Jagar Conservation Day in Dehradun, featuring a unique ritual dedicated to the great Dhol Sagar, Devsar, Pansara and Thati, as well as yoga experts from the region. The event will also showcase performances by experts in various genres of Uttarakhand’s culture.
