DLit conferred upon Nishank for contribution to literature

The vice chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, Rajneesh Shukla presented the university’s DLit degree to former chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank in the presence of Uttarakhand governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh during a two-day international meet on Nishank’s writings which concluded in Rishikesh on Tuesday. This degree was awarded to Nishank on the recommendation of the President and the Education ministry.
It will be recalled that since February last year, Sunday book talks on Nishank’s writings were held online every Sunday. On completion of 50 webinars the World Book of Records acknowledged it to be the longest running webinar talk on the works of one writer while the completion of 75 episodes was noted in the Harvard World Records. This series completed 108 episodes on April 30.
The governor congratulated Nishank on the achievement and said that the interactions on such literature are important for youths, researchers and generation of new literature. Stressing on the power of language, he exhorted the citizens to work on literature and the environment. Nishank thanked the President, Education ministry and the university for the degree conferred upon him. He dedicated it to all his readers.
