DM allocates patrol vehicles to probation officer to rescue children involved in begging

The Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal allocated three patrol vehicles to district probation officer Meena Bisht for conducting city-wide patrols to rescue children involved in begging. The three vehicles allocated for this operation are undergoing modifications.

The officials concerned are also conducting interviews for hiring drivers. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will soon flag off these vehicles, the DM said. These vehicles will be used to rescue children engaged in begging and transport them to the shelter. Bansal recently approved a micro-plan prepared by the chief education officer and district probation officer for the rescued children.

Besides this, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the district administration and three NGO to create a collaborative framework for providing rescued children with a nurturing environment. The administration has also commenced work to set up intensive care shelter to support the rehabilitation of rescued children. This will help children in their behavioural transformation and reintegration into the mainstream education system.

In the first phase, three classrooms are being set up, and plans are underway to establish a multi-activity hall where children can engage in recreational and foundational learning activities, Bansal said.
