The district magistrate, Savin Bansal expressed strong displeasure on Wednesday over the slow progress in the Green Building scheme under the Smart City Project along Haridwar Road. He said that the Green Building is an important and ambitious project mooted by the State government and no negligence would be tolerated. He clearly instructed that the construction work must be completed by June 2026 under all circumstances.
The DM directed the Smart City and CPWD officials to prepare and submit a detailed work plan, including a PERT chart, labour plan and material plan. He ordered that construction work should be carried out in double shifts to speed up the process. He also stressed that monitoring should not be limited to paperwork and the officials must regularly inspect the work on the ground.
The officials informed the DM that around 36 per cent of the construction work has been completed so far. They also said that only 125 workers are currently working at the site against the required 175 workers. The DM sounded displeased over this and instructed that the number of workers be increased immediately. He also directed that high-quality construction, use of eco-friendly technology and proper safety measures for workers must be ensured. The DM asked for weekly progress reports so that the work could be closely monitored and completed on time.
