Considering frequent road accidents in recent days in Dehradun, the district administration will now develop several roundabouts across the city.  Initially, three major roundabouts- Dilram Chowk, Sai Mandir Chowk and Kuthal Gate will be developed as part of the first phase of the project. This was stated by Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal in a Press conference on Friday. He stated that the initiative focuses on the renovation and aesthetic enhancement of roundabouts, with an emphasis on integrating local culture and traditional folk artistry. The purpose of these changes is to improve traffic flow and to showcase the State’s rich cultural heritage, providing a glimpse of Uttarakhand’s local and architectural traditions to tourists. The roundabouts will feature artworks that represent significant figures from the State’s history, including those linked to the Uttarakhand statehood movement, as well as elements of local folk art, religious sites and scenic landmarks. “Along with traffic safety enhancements, the roundabouts will be designed to reflect the cultural vibrancy of the region,” he said. “This development will not only ease traffic but also act as a canvas for the cultural expression of Uttarakhand, preserving and promoting its legacy,” he added.
