The Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal approved the installation of CCTV cameras in Paltan Bazaar under the district administration’s untied fund in response to demands of locals and traders in view of increasing criminal activities in recent months. The administration will initially install 15 high tech CCTV cameras in Paltan Bazaar which will monitor every corner of the marketplace.
He has also directed the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh to submit a detailed plan in this regard. These efforts come after the successful installation of a Pink Booth near CNI Chowk dedicated to women’s safety in the Paltan Bazaar area. He had allocated Rs 1.37 lakh for the Pink Booth.
The members of the traders union, who met the DM earlier on Wednesday regarding the camera installation, expressed their gratitude for this prompt decision. The DM also said that the administration will take all possible actions to ensure public welfare and safety in Paltan Bazaar.
