The Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal allocated Rs 94 lakh across various development blocks to address essential requirements in schools. This amount was issued under Project Utkarsh to enhance basic infrastructure in government schools of the district. Besides this, Rs one crore has also been placed at the disposal of the chief education officer for the project’s execution, as per DM. Bansal emphasised on the importance of providing fundamental amenities such as whiteboards and LED bulbs in classrooms across all government secondary and junior schools in the district. He informed that in the first phase of implementation, these essentials have already been supplied. The fund of Rs 94 lakh was allocated after the proposals submitted through Block Development Officers (BDOs) for additional necessary resources in schools.
An amount of Rs 14.28 lakh was given for Chakrata, Rs 11.43 lakh for Kalsi, Rs 14.10 lakh for Vikasnagar, Rs 15.93 lakh for Sahaspur, Rs 19.60 lakh for Raipur and Rs 18.66 lakh for Doiwala. The DM directed that schools without electricity in the Chakrata and Kalsi blocks must be equipped with electrical connections on a priority basis to ensure no institution remains without power. Besides this, government primary schools for classes to V will be equipped with swings, baby slides and other recreational facilities for children, he said. In the first phase, primary schools in Raipur, Doiwala, Sahaspur and Vikasnagar with over 25 students and those in Kalsi and Chakrata with over 15 students will be included. For recreational activities, funds will be adjusted to account for any unutilised sports grants from the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. Junior high schools and intermediate-level schools with over 35 students will receive at least one outdoor sports facility, such as volleyball, basketball, or badminton courts. Bansal said that BEOs have been tasked with ensuring the establishment of these facilities and submitting detailed reports with photographs. The DM said that the administration is committed to improving the learning environment in government schools and making them more student-friendly.
