DM directs completion of ISBT drainage work before monsoon to prevent CM’s distress visit

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal has directed officials and contractors involved in the ISBT drainage project to ensure that the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami does not have to make a distress visit to the site this year. The area near ISBT has long been prone to waterlogging, especially during the monsoon, causing inconvenience to commuters and the general public.

The DM emphasised that the entire drainage work must be completed before the monsoon. The DM visited the drainage project site at Shimla Bypass and ISBT and inspected the progress. He instructed officials from the agency and Dehradun Smart City Limited officials to closely monitor the project. Contractors were asked to increase manpower and machinery and to carry out work during both day and night shifts to meet the deadline.

Bansal also made it clear that he expects the project to be completed before the onset of the rainy season. He directed that all resources be doubled to meet the target and warned of strict action if the work is not completed on time. The drainage system is being developed under the Smart City Mission and the plan includes both construction and maintenance provisions.

Bansal said that the drainage from ISBT to the outfall point is being cleaned and upgraded. The administration is focused on resolving public issues and aims to deliver the project within record time. The DM stated that Rs 10 crore rupees have been allocated from the Smart City budget for new infrastructure and maintenance in Dehradun, including this drainage upgrade.
