Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan has directed all departments concerned to complete priority works related to monsoon preparedness by June 7. Chairing a review meeting on Sunday, the DM said that all departments must work together to deal with any disaster situation during the monsoon season. He instructed departments to set up task forces, control rooms and war rooms and ensure quick action on public complaints. He warned that negligence in disaster management would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against officials if communication gaps between departments affect the work.
Chauhan directed departments to deploy enough manpower and machinery to complete road related public projects on time. He also asked officials to finish the channelization of rivers, canals and seasonal drains before the monsoon to prevent flooding and waterlogging. Departments were told to repair damaged roads, make them pothole free and regularly clean drains and culverts.
Chauhan also instructed officials to keep Quick Response Teams active in waterlogging prone areas and deploy task forces with water pumps in sensitive locations, including Vikasnagar and Rishikesh. Traffic police have been directed to remain alert and manage traffic at important intersections during the rainy season.
“Officials should regularly monitor complaints received through the CM helpline and ensure their timely resolution. I will personally take feedback from complainants to check the status of grievance redressal,” he added.
