At a meeting of the district medical management committee held on Tuesday at the District Hospital, stress was laid on providing better treatment to patients from border and mountainous areas. Besides, a detailed discussion was held on making the district’s health services more effective and accessible while strengthening the hospital’s infrastructure.
Presiding over the meeting, the district magistrate, Prashant Arya reviewed the proceedings and compliance report of the previous meeting. Additionally, various public interest proposals were taken up and income and expenditure statements for the financial year 2025-26 were discussed.
Several important proposals were discussed at the meeting, including strengthening the security system of the District Hospital and Women’s Hospital, installing additional CCTV cameras, enhancing parking facilities, repairing buildings, rewiring electricity, strengthening solar light and water supply systems. Furthermore, developing the trauma centre, expanding residential facilities for doctors and staff and implementing an online system for patient payments were discussed.
The Gangotri MLA, Suresh Chauhan said at the meeting that the district hospital is the premier medical facility of the district. “Providing timely, quality treatment to every poor and needy patient who comes here should be a priority,” he added.
The DM agreed and stated that providing better health services to the district’s residents is the administration’s top priority.
Among those present at the meeting were the chief medical officer, Dr B S Rawat and chief superintendent, Dr P S Pokhriyal.
