DM directs supply of essentials for the rain-affected

With several stretches of Gangotri and Yamunotri National Highways and rural routes remaining blocked in the wake of continuous, torrential rain, the Uttarkashi district magistrate, Prashant Arya held a review meeting with the departments concerned in the district disaster control room on Tuesday and directed to open the blocked routes at the earliest while ensuring supply of essential commodities among the rain-affected people. He further said that
sufficient amount of machinery and labour force is being deployed to maintain traffic in Silai Band, Syanachatti, Ranachatti and Jangalchatti areas of Yamuna Valley and Nalupani, Naluna, Dabrani, Songad, Harshil and Dharali areas of Ganga Valley.
Before the review meeting, the DM had visited the Naluna area where the Gangotri National Highway was blocked by landslide. He instructed the officials present on the spot to ensure that the Naluna pedestrian route remains open until the highway stretch is completely repaired.
