DM directs UEPPCB to identify highly polluted locations in Doon & Rishikesh

The Dehradun district magistrate Sonika has directed the officials of the Uttarakhand Environment Protection and Pollution Control Board (UEPPCB) to identify highly polluted locations across the district to take measures to control it. The DM held a meeting under the National Clean Air Programme on Thursday regarding the prevention of air pollution and air quality in Dehradun and Rishikesh.
She also directed to make a concrete action plan for the places, institutions and industrial establishments across the district where pollution is high in order to bring it under control. She also directed the officials of the departments concerned including municipal corporations of Dehradun and Rishikesh to submit the report on the amount utilised by them from the budget given to them by the government. Besides, she also asked the divisional transport officers to take action against the old vehicles that fail to run as per the standards causing pollution in the cities. The DM directed the officials to update the information of the actions taken by their departments concerned as per the action plan to lessen down air pollution on the Prana portal. She also instructed the officials to conduct effective monitoring and regular meetings every three months to take effective measures against pollution.
