DM discusses disposal of garbage after Assembly polls

The Dehradun district election officer and district magistrate R Rajesh Kumar held a meeting with officials of the civic bodies regarding the proper disposal of materials like face masks and PPE kits used as a precautionary measure against Covid-19 in the polling booths after the end of the Assembly election. He said to the representatives of all municipal corporations, municipalities, Nagar Panchayats and District Panchayat that the Election Commission has issued orders to sanitise all the polling booths ahead of the elections and to ensure the proper disposal of all the materials including face masks, PPE kits, sanitisers, gloves and other items used against Covid-19. He said that all the civic bodies in the district will ensure the sanitisation and disposal of garbage generated in their respective booths as per the rules. He directed the officials concerned to prepare a detailed plan including a proper route plan for the disposal of all kinds of garbage generated in the polling booths. Kumar also instructed the officials to provide the list of the budget and the resources required to carry out this work soon for the quick allocation of funds as per the requirement.

In the meeting, the municipal commissioner of Dehradun, Abhishek Ruhela, additional chief officer of district Panchayat  Anshika Swarup and the officials of municipal bodies of Mussoorie, Vikasnagar, Rishikesh and Doiwala were also present.
