DM embarks on Roopkund trek to boost tourism

In latest Uttarakhand news, to boost religious tourism, adventure tourism and ecotourism in the district, the Chamoli district magistrate Himanshu Khurana embarked on a four-day trek to Roopkund, covering 60 kms amidst difficult mountainous terrain. The DM said that aside from boosting the prospects of varied tourism sectors, he had undertaken this trek to ensure that the facilities for the Roopkund trekkers are enhanced. He stressed on exploring new centres of ecotourism in the forest lands of the district. He also laid emphasis on the use of natural items in development of new ecotourism sites, adding that local youths are to be trained to become nature guides for the trekkers. Notably, the DM had started the trek from a village under the Dewal block.
