The Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal conducted a surprise inspection at the sub-registrar office Vikasnagar on Monday. During the raid, several serious irregularities were found in the office records and working system. The DM also seized documents which were found out to be suspicious.
The officials found the original deed registers from the years 2018, 2024 and 2025 in suspicious condition. These important documents were immediately seized by the district administration for investigation. During the checking, the officials also found cases where land, banned for sale, had been registered. This is being seen as a serious violation of rules, the officers said.
The inspection team also identified 47 cases related to stamp duty evasion under Section 47-A. They said that this caused financial loss to the government. Legal action will be taken in these matters after further inquiry, they added.
The administration also found poor record maintenance, lack of transparency in office work and violation of official procedures. A detailed report on all irregularities would be prepared and sent to the state government.
The DM ordered a full investigation into the work of both current and former sub-registrars posted in the office. He said that strict departmental and legal action would be taken against anyone found guilty.
The district administration repeated that negligence, corruption or irregularities in matters related to public interest would not be tolerated.
