The Dehradun district administration took action against three prominent establishments that were operating beyond permitted hours. This action was taken under a drive led by the Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal late on Tuesday. He suspended the license of three establishments for 15 days for violating the rules. He said that late-night raids were conducted across various bars and pubs operating beyond permitted hours in Dehradun. The drive began at about 11 PM and continued till about 1:40 AM on Wednesday. The DM said that the mission was kept highly confidential and till 11 PM, even the assigned teams were unaware of their specific objectives. He issued instructions at 11:10 PM after which five administrative teams departed from the DM’s camp office to begin coordinated raids on different establishments. The operation was led by the DM along with the additional district magistrate and city magistrate, who carried out the raids personally and action was taken at various locations. The DM informed that the team found Bristal Bar near Kishan Nagar Chowk open at 11:22 PM after which it was locked and the SDM seized the keys, initiating legal proceedings against the bar owner. The manager of another establishment Rion Tukda was booked for serving alcohol to more than 20 people past 11 PM, as well as for reportedly misbehaving with the team. The team also took action against Ralph Pub when it was discovered serving alcohol beyond the permitted hours, as per the DM. He stated that the administration has suspended the license of these establishments for 15 days. Bansal also instructed officials to impose penalties and initiate legal action including potential license cancellations against any bar or pub found operating after 11 PM in the future.
