The Dehradun district magistrate Sonika has removed the gram pradhan of Raiwala Sagar Giri for contesting the election on a forged caste certificate. Giri termed this action as arbitrary.
The DM’s action is based on the complaint lodged by one Ram Bahadur, a resident of Raiwala gram panchayat, and also on the report of the scrutiny committee.
The gram pradhan was removed from his post following the DM’s order. The up- pradhan Jayanand Dimri will officiate as the gram pradhan till the by- election is held.
The removal action was warranted by Sagar having attached a fake caste certificate with other documents submitted during the panchayat election. He was elected gram pradhan from the reserved seat on the basis of false documents.
