The Dehradun district magistrate Sonika has sought clarification from the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) for negligence in fogging works despite the city witnessing the maximum number of dengue cases in the State. She took this step in a meeting held on Wednesday for the effective control of dengue as dengue cases continue to rise in the district.

The officials informed her in the meeting that the administration received several complaints about negligence in fogging by MCD in the newly set control room on the premises of the Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA) to provide necessary help and information regarding dengue disease. Taking cognisance of the complaints, she ordered the MCD officials to submit clarification for negligence and carry out regular fogging in the city. She asked the district officials to monitor the fogging works as well.

Besides this, she also stated that magistrates will investigate complaints related to labs and hospitals on the spot and the chief medical officer will inspect the control room twice daily. She appointed the additional chief medical officer Dr CS Rawat as a nodal officer from the health department and chief municipal health officer Dr Avinash Khanna as the nodal officer on behalf of MCD. She also directed the officials to take action against owners if larvae are found in under-construction buildings. DM said that the control room will function for 24 hours and locals can contact it through the toll-free number 18001802525 regarding any issues related to dengue including beds in hospitals and overcharged for medical tests among others.
