The Dehradun district administration has formed five task forces comprising 20 district-level officers each to improve civic services in the city. The teams will monitor street lights, garbage points, roads, food safety and electricity pilferage. The Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan directed these teams to submit daily reports so that departments could take quick action. He announced the constitution of these task forces while chairing the weekly review meeting on Monday with all departments under the district administration.
The DM said that the task forces would conduct night inspections to check streetlights across Dehradun. “Officials will send the Google Maps locations and photographs of damaged or non-functioning lights to the relevant departments. This will help authorities identify problems and get things corrected quickly,” he added.
The administration has also laid stress on promptly cleaning the garbage dumping points operating under the Municipal Corporation limits. Officials have been asked to repair potholes on major roads on priority to reduce the risk of accidents.
This aside, as per the new directives, frequency of food safety checks will be increased at warehouses, grocery shops, sweet shops, hotels and roadside eateries. The administration has also ordered intensive checks in slum and industrial areas where electricity pilferage is rampant.
Furthermore, the DM directed officials to identify ineligible people receiving Ayushman and ration cards. He ordered their names be removed from the schemes following comprehensive verification.
The meeting also reviewed complaints pending on the CM Helpline for more than 36 days. The DM directed for these complaints to be addressed and redressed on priority.
