The Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal and senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh issued various instructions to officials for improving the traffic flow and enhancing public safety in Mussoorie. The duo issued the instructions while conducting a joint inspection of the hill station on Friday.

Considering future requirements, the DM directed officials to prepare a plan for a satellite parking facility. Directing the Mussoorie sub divisional magistrate to prepare a time table, he said that vehicular traffic should be allowed on the Mall Road only during the permitted periods. Inspecting the Kincraig parking, Bansal directed that the facility should be made operational within a week in addition to construction of toilets. Effective action should be taken for operation of the shuttle service from the parking. Charges for the shuttle service should be fixed and the gap funding will be done by the administration, he said, while adding that the local taxi union members can also apply under the procedure in place. Visiting the Hathipaon Road and considering the potential for a parking facility, he directed officials to prepare a plan for this purpose. The DM further said that CCTV cameras should be installed to enhance public safety. He directed the administration and police officials to send proposals for equipment and other requirements for improving the traffic.

Meanwhile, the SSP directed officials to act against encroachment and owners of establishments on Mall Road where the identities of workers have not been verified. A traffic booth should be set up at Library Chowk to better manage the traffic while information boards should be placed on both ends of the Mall Road regarding the shuttle service. In view of public safety, the SSP also directed officials to place more police pickets in designated locations.
