Protesting youths of Uttarakhand Berozgar Sangh (UBS) in Dehradun did not budge from their demand for a CBI inquiry into the alleged UKSSSC graduate-level recruitment examination paper leak, despite a meeting with Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal and senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh.
The officials met the protesters to explain the steps taken by the government to address their complaints regarding the alleged leak. However, the protesters continued to demand the CBI inquiry stating that they have no faith in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the State government on Wednesday. They also asked the SSP to withdraw charges imposed on assistant professor Suman who allegedly got the images of the exam paper from Saba, the sister of the main accused Khalid Malik. Suman reportedly sent those images to activist Bobby Panwar rather than informing the police due to which, relevant charges have been imposed on her, as per the officials.
Speaking to the media, the DM said that the future of students is a priority and the State government is sensitive to their careers. He added that over the past three years, more than 25,000 transparent recruitments have been conducted, showing the government’s approach. The DM said that strict laws have been enforced against those facilitating malpractices and that action will be taken based on any inputs received. He assured the youths that the investigation now covers every examination centre in the State and that an SIT has been formed to expedite action.
The SSP also said that the SIT is gathering evidence and will take strict action against culprits. The protesting youths, however, continued to demand a CBI-led investigation. Several political leaders also came to visit the protest site to give their support to the youths.
