In latest Uttarakhand news, the Tehri district magistrate Mayur Dixit said while addressing the media persons that the search and rescue operation at the landslide-hit parking lot near the Chamba police station on New Tehri Road was carried on till late night and so far five bodies were recovered from under the debris. He further informed that the district administration has handed over ex gratia of Rs four lakh to the next of kin of each of the landslide victims. The DM said that all the houses situated in proximity to slide zone have been evacuated through administrative notices sent to the owners. “This has been done to stop further loss of life,” he said and added that the district administration is on its toes with the disaster spree continuing.
Dixit said that the bodies of the deceased recovered from the landslide-hit site had been handed over to their families. He also lauded the coordination with which all the teams, engaged in search and rescue operations, worked.
