In tune with the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s save fuel push in view of the tense volatility persisting in the restive Middle East, the district magistrate, Lalit Mohan Rayal walked his way to the office from his official residence and then exhorted the officers and employees of the district administration as well as the common people to commute on public transport as much as possible and resort to other fuel-free alternatives. “If the distance between the officers’ residence and their offices is not long enough they ought to walk down to offices,” he said, adding that walking would prove beneficial for their health, too.
“This is the high time when we should switch from private transport to public transport. The use of public transport will save fuel and reduce pollution aside from facilitating a congestion-free smooth traffic system,” he observed.
“Walking is good too in terms of health. Besides, saving fuel at this critical juncture will serve the national interests,” he noted.
