The Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal warned of action against delays in addressing pension scheme applications over seven days in the Social Welfare department. He stated this after a surprise inspection of the district Social Welfare office on Monday morning. During the inspection, the DM reviewed the status of various welfare schemes, including pension schemes, on a block-wise basis and also examined the status of online applications on the departmental portal.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the 15 to 18 days delay found in the processing of applications despite the online system in place, the DM ordered that all pending applications must be resolved within a week. He reiterated that pension-related and other applications should not be pending for more than a week and that applicants must be informed of any issues promptly to ensure swift processing. He warned that action will be taken against officials responsible for such delays. The DM also interacted with several people visiting the office, listening to their grievances and instructed the Social Welfare officer to resolve all issues soon and submit a detailed report. He also noted poor record maintenance at the office and instructed the officials to organise and maintain records properly. He further reviewed the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PMAJAY) and emphasised its effective execution to ensure maximum beneficiaries can benefit from it.
