The construction of a blood bank in the Deen Dayal Upadhyay district hospital will commence later this month and it will no longer be a place where patients and their attendants have to wander in search of blood for transfusion.
The Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal stated this after the administration got the financial approval for its construction on Friday. He said that the blood bank in the hospital will bring much-needed relief to the community.
During an inspection at the district hospital, the DM was informed about the absence of a blood bank and the prolonged delay in the construction of the approved facility. In response, the DM took immediate steps to resolve the obstacles hindering the establishment of the blood bank. The first task was to select the implementing agency and a detailed project report was submitted to the State government. After receiving the financial approval from the government, the green light was given to commence the construction.
Bansal said that this project was pending for several years but with the construction of the blood bank will now mark a significant milestone in improving healthcare facilities for the local population in Dehradun.
