All the 41 labourers who were evacuated from the Silkyara tunnel on Tuesday night are in good physical and mental health. Immediately after evacuating them from the tunnel, the labourers were taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) Chinyalisaur in Uttarkashi. The administration had made all the arrangements for admitting the labourers in this CHC where they were thoroughly examined by the doctors. On Wednesday afternoon the labourers were shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh for further health check up. The chief medical officer (CMO) of Uttarkashi Dr R C Panwar told The Pioneer that all the workers are in good health. He said that as per the protocol they are now sent to AIIMS Rishikesh where specialist doctors will examine them further. The CMO said that a team of doctors, paramedics and psychiatrists continuously monitored the health of the labourers when they were trapped in the tunnel. He said that the doctors and the psychiatrist remained in constant touch with the labourers and medicines were supplied to them accordingly. The experts are attributing the good health of the workers to the fact that the authorities were able to provide nutritious food, nuts and supplements to them inside the tunnel. The mental and physical toughness of the labourers also helped them to tide over the tough conditions inside the tunnel.
