Doiwala block education officer suspended in bribery case

The State administration has suspended block education officer of Doiwala, Dhanbir Singh in a bribery case. Taking cognizance of the issue, the Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat gave his approval to the proposal of suspension of the BEO.
Singh was caught red handed by a team of Vigilance department on April 2 while accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh from a private school owner for clearing reimbursement bills under Right to Education (RTE) act.
The minister said that the suspension of the officer is a clear message that the indiscipline and corruption in the department will not be tolerated.
The minister said that the State government is working on a policy of zero tolerance on corruption but despite that some of the employees are trying to defame the government with their actions. He said that in view of the seriousness of the issue involving Doiwala BEO, the State administration has suspended him as per the provisions of the Uttarakhand Government Employee (discipline and appeal) regulation 2023.
Rawat directed the officers of the department that to prevent reoccurrence of such incidents they should hold inspections from time to time, take feedback from the students and parents and make the system more transparent.
