Don’t purchase land from outsiders selling lands fearing action: Administration to locals
PNS | DEHRADUN
The State administration has made it clear that the outsiders who have purchased lands in the State in violation of the existing land laws will face punitive action irrespective of whether they have sold the land to any resident of the State or not. The assertion comes in the wake of the information that many people who had purchased huge tracts of land in the State in violation of land laws are selling their lands to locals in order to evade action.
The additional secretary of Revenue said that the action at the level of district administrations is underway in the cases of violation of the land laws. He said that the administration is privy to the information that some people are selling lands to locals in order to evade action in cases of the violation of land laws. He appealed to the people that they should not purchase lands from such people so that they don’t face any financial loss in future.
The officer said that action as per the land laws will be taken against the outsiders who have purchased excess land in the State and such people cannot evade punitive action by selling their lands to local people.
He said that the district magistrates have been asked to remain vigilant on such cases as the outsiders can sell their excess lands to the local people and cause losses to them.
It is pertinent to mention here that chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has asserted that stringent land laws enacted in the State and for this a bill will be tabled in the next year’s budget session. The government has asked all the DMs to prepare a list of the offenders who have purchased lands in the State in violation of the existing land laws. As per the norm any outsider can purchase only 250 sq meter of land in a non municipal area of the State.
