The Civil Aviation department has increased the frequency of the Pithoragarh- Dehradun air service. The service will now operate six days in a week instead of present three days a week. The air service was inaugurated by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on January 30 this year.
The flight has reduced the travel time from about 15 to 17 hours (by road) between Dehradun and Pithoragarh to only one hour. The service has proved to be successful with local people and tourists.
Expressing happiness at the increase in frequency of air service, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the service will give a new impetus to tourism in the border area. It will also help in increasing the livelihood opportunities in Pithoragarh, he added.
