Doon police arrest man for ramming tractor into constable

The Dehradun police on Monday arrested the man who allegedly rammed a tractor full of mining material into a police constable under Garhi Cantt police station area on Sunday. The senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar informed the media that constable Manoj Kumar, who was in the area for his usual morning walk on Sunday noticed a tractor carrying stolen mined material along with four men. Kumar called police personnel Deepak through his mobile phone to inform him about the situation and called him on the scene. When Deepak along with other personnel reached the spot, they found an injured and unconscious Kumar who was immediately taken to the hospital by them.

DGP orders SSP to announce bounty on absconding accused

The director general of police (DGP) Ashok Kumar ordered the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar on Monday to announce bounty on four absconding accused who allegedly attacked a police constable under Garhi Cantt police station area on Sunday morning. He said that the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the police to arrest all absconding accused in the case soon. The DGP has also ordered the SSP to remove the station house officer (SHO) of the Cantt police station for fair investigation and hand over the case to superintendent of police, crime of Dehradun. Following the orders, the SSP has given charge of the Cannt police station to Sampoornanad Gairola, inspector, civil police. 

The SSP said that it was revealed during the investigation that Wasim, one of the four accused, knew that Kumar is a police constable and when he noticed him, he knew that their tractor will be seized if police reach there. Considering this, they all allegedly decided to ram him with the tractor with the intention to kill him, as per the SSP. He said that they badly injured Kumar and fled the scene with the tractor. Kunwar said that separate teams have been constituted to nab all the four accused. The accused Shamim (29) who was driving the tractor was arrested from Premnagar area on Monday. The police have also recovered the tractor used in the incident from bushes near Gujrada Karnpur ground along with mined material. He said that the three remaining absconding accused will be nabbed soon too by the police teams. He also said that the police would take action under the Gangster Act against the accused arrested for illegal mining. Along with this, strict action will also be taken against the police officials found involved in illegal mining in any way, added the SSP.
