The Dehradun police nabbed a 23-year-old man on Sunday for alleged sexual assault, stalking and threatening acid attack on a woman. The police informed that a woman had filed a complaint in Nehru Colony police station on Friday stating that a man named Sameer (23) took her to his home in Clement Town a few days ago and sexually assaulted her after allegedly spiking her drink.
The complainant informed the police that after the incident, the accused was stalking her at her home and college and threatened to post her private pictures on social media platforms. He also allegedly stalked her to her coaching institute, snatched her mobile, abused her, blackmailed her and threatened to damage her face as stated by her to the police. The police informed that sub-inspector Smriti Rawat soon started the investigation after registering a case against the accused under nine relevant sections. The police started gathering evidence against the accused and activated the informer system to locate him soon.
On a tip of from an informer, the accused Sameer was nabbed by the police on Saturday from under the ISBT flyover. The police informed that the accused was trying to escape from Dehradun after he got to know about the police complaint against him by the victim but he was nabbed by the police team. The police said that the accused has been sent to jail after being presented in the court on Sunday.
