Doon police arrest three men for running prostitution racket, rescue 15 women

Dehradun police on Sunday arrested three accused from a resort in Sahaspur for allegedly running prostitution racket. The police also rescued 15 women involved in the prostitution who belong to different States of the country.

The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar said on Monday that the police received information through confidential sources that a prostitution racket was being run at a resort in Sahaspur along with the consumption of illegal drugs. He said that a team consisting of police, anti-human trafficking unit (AHTU) and anti-narcotics task force (ANTF) was constituted to conduct a raid in the resort on Sunday. The team arrested the receptionist of the resort Deepak Singh (26), Chandigarh resident Rahul (24) who had allegedly brought the women to the resort for prostitution and Haryana resident Hemant Singh (38) along with 573 grammes of Charas.

The SSP said that some men including the resort operator Amit Garg and a man Sanjay who had allegedly brought the women from Chandigarh for prostitution fled the scene. The police team is searching for them. The rescued women said during the interrogation that Sanjay brought them there to dance from Chandigarh and then allegedly forced them into prostitution, said Kunwar. He said that the police have registered a case against arrested accused under various relevant acts including the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) act.
