The Dehradun police late Wednesday night seized 21 vehicles carrying mined material from Himachal Pradesh towards the city after irregularities were found in the transport during checking. The police informed that senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar recently ordered all police stations in-charges to carry out checking in their respective areas and take all possible measures to prevent irregularities regarding illegal mining and its transportation and other associated offences.
The SSP himself has been conducting surprise inspections of police stations and police pickets. Following the orders, separate teams of Vikasnagar police station were formed to carry out vehicle checking inspections at night when the police checked the vehicles arriving from Paonta, Himachal Pradesh towards Dehradun late Wednesday night.
The police said that the vehicles were carrying mined material and the police found several irregularities in the vehicles during the checking. Subsequently, the police seized such 21 vehicles and would take further action as per the procedure, stated the officials.
