In UPSC CSE Mains Reserve list 2023 recently released, Dehradun resident Kumud Bartwal figured among 120 selected candidates. Meanwhile, he joined the Dehradun-based UPSC (IAS, PCS) coaching centre Equations IAS as a faculty in May 2024 and has been teaching at it since then. He said he felt immensely satisfied while guiding and mentoring IAS/PCS aspirants under the guidance of the founder of the coaching institute Deepak Dutt Mamgain and other senior faculty members like Sunil Kishtwal and R K Rao. “Students approach us with queries and doubts and we clear these and help them remain high on confidence,” he said.
Asked to speak of his preparation strategy, he said that he relied mostly on self study. “I also benefited from some free video lectures available online,” he said and added that he had made use of mock tests, previous years’ questions for continuous practice. “For current affairs, I would read newspapers daily. I also referred to freely available current affairs monthly magazines. Besides, as a stress-reliever, I used to practise mantra meditation,” he added.
