Monday, 12 September 2022 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Considering the deaths of villagers caused by the consumption of hooch in two villages of Haridwar district, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police (SSP) Daleep Singh Kunwar has ordered all station house officers (SHOs) and in-charges to take action against bootleggers in their respective areas. He has directed the officers to identify bootleggers across the district and take necessary action against them. If any unwanted incident or death occurs due to spurious or illegal liquor in any area of the district, the police station in-charge concerned will be held responsible for it and strict action will be taken by the police department, said Kunwar.

He said that there is a strong possibility of illicit liquor entering the district from nearby States like Haryana and Punjab considering the arrests made by the police in the past. Considering this, he directed that an intensive checking campaign be started at Kulhal outpost, border areas near Asharodi, Saharanpur, Haridwar and Pauri districts. He stated that keeping an eye on these borders is crucial to prevent the smuggling of illicit liquor in the district. He directed the police officers concerned to identify such illegal liquor sellers belonging to Punjab and Haryana in the Dehradun district and take necessary action against them under relevant acts.
