Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Daleep Singh Kunwar has directed all station house officers to mark all firecracker factories and godowns located in populated areas and make arrangements to remove them from there. He issued this order following the death of four people including two minors in a firecracker factory blast in Haridwar’s Roorkee last week. He also asked the officials to ensure they get the fingerprints of every arrested accused compulsorily and preserve them without any tampering.
The SSP issued these orders in a meeting conducted on Sunday with all gazetted officers and SHOs. He also said in the meeting that many police officials are allegedly showing negligence in the service of summons and warrants received in their respective police stations. He asked the SHOs to ensure the procedure is being followed as per the law on all summons and warrants received in their police stations. Stating that various districts of the State have witnessed earthquake tremors in the past few weeks, he has asked the police force to remain alert to deal with any emergency and ensure all necessary disaster relief equipment is available at all police stations.
He also asked the officials to take action against the complaints of several people regarding loudspeaker noise through temples and mosques by coordinating with the respective sub-divisional magistrates as per the orders of the Supreme Court in this regard. He also said that those SHOs who are yet to identify assets of land mafia in their respective areas should speed up the process to mark the properties and make the report available soon to coordinate with the district magistrate for their confiscation. He also directed them to make necessary security arrangements in their respective areas in view of the Holi festival, especially in mixed-populated areas.
