Doon University enters MoU with NRDC to promote research, IPR

For promoting research, innovation and commercialisation of intellectual property rights, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Doon University and National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) at the Raj Bhawan on Monday. The agreement has been done on the initiative of Governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh. NRDC is an undertaking of the ministry of Science and Technology, government of India.

 Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that universities should not only be the centres of teaching but should be places of inspiration for excellent research, innovation and knowledge-based development. He also said that Doon University has opened new paths for other universities and institutions.

He said that this agreement will provide a platform to Doon University where research work can move beyond the academic realm and connect with industries, start-ups and national priorities. 

The NRDC chairman and managing director, commodore (retd) Amit Rastogi assured that NRDC will provide all possible support to Doon University. He said that NRDC will assist the university in patent filing work and will increase linkages with industries through transfer of technology and knowledge in future, which will boost the economic progress of the state. 

The vice chancellor of Doon university,  Surekha Dangwal said that the university’s science faculty and various departments are now re-aligning their research work towards intellectual property creation. 

Secretary Ravinath Raman, additional secretary Reena Joshi, NRDC deputy general manager NG Lakshminarayan and others attended the programme.
