Doon University selected for PURSE grant

The governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh has expressed happiness on the selection of Doon University for establishment of DST- Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (PURSE) lab. He said that the DST- PURSE lab will assist in qualitative improvement in research and innovation in the university.
The vice chancellor of the Doon University Surekha Dangwal met the governor at Raj Bhawan on Monday and gave the information about the university’s selection for the lab.
She said that the ministry of Science and Technology has given its approval for setting up the DST- PURSE lab in the university which will be the first such lab in the State. She said that the PURSE grant is very renowned and in the entire Uttar Pradesh only Aligarh Muslim University and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) have received it. The university will get a grant of Rs six crore under the scheme.
The VC informed that the government of India invites proposals under the PURSE scheme and the selection of the universities is made after a very tough and competitive process. About 70 universities had applied for the grant in February 2023. In July the university had given a presentation before the Project Management Board (PMB) of the PURSE in Guwahati and based on this the selection of the university was made for the purse.
