The Cockroach Janta Party protests have become one of the country’s controversial topics with many questioning the substance and actions of the actions being undertaken in the name of “students’ insterets” While the campaign has drawn thousands of young people to the streets, Doon’s youth remain divided on whether it can ultimately bring meaningful change.”It has given frustrated students a voice. Whether anything changes or not, at least people are finally talking about exam leaks and the future of young aspirants,”student Ananya Rawat said.
Others believe the movement has succeeded simply because it has forced people to pay attention. “The name is unusual, but that’s exactly why it caught everyone’s attention,” said Ayush Semwal, another student. “Sometimes you need something unconventional to make people stop scrolling and start listening.”
However, not everyone is convinced the momentum will last. “Every movement starts with energy, but sustaining it is the real challenge,” said Rohan Bisht, an aspirant. “If people lose interest after a few weeks, nothing will change. Pressure has to be continuous.”
Some youngsters felt the movement needs to evolve beyond symbolism. “Raising awareness is important, but eventually there has to be dialogue and solutions,” said Shreya Negi, a young professional. “Otherwise, it risks becoming just another viral moment.”
Others argued that the campaign has already achieved something significant. “For a long time, students felt nobody was listening,” said Kunal Sharma, a student. “Now everyone is talking about the problems young people face. That’s a victory in itself.”
For many young people in Dehradun, the verdict is still out. They believe the movement has succeeded in starting a nationwide conversation, but whether it results in meaningful change will depend on what happens after the slogans fade.
