Failing to catch the prime suspect in the double murder case in Udham Singh Nagar’s Rudrapur, the police have declared a reward of Rs 25,000 for his arrest. The accused who has been identified as Jagdish alias Rajkamal, a resident of Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh had allegedly murdered a couple Sanju Yadav (38) and Sonali (34) at their house in the Transit Camp area of Rudrapur on August 3 in the wee hours. He had also severely injured Sonali’s mother Gauri Mandal when she was reportedly trying to protect her grandchildren. The children witnessed the murder of their parents and reportedly helped the police to identify the accused. They were able to identify the accused Jagdish easily because he used to live in a rented room in front of their house. However, the police have still not nabbed the accused in the past four days. The circle officer of Rudrapur police, Anusha Badola told The Pioneer that there are some speculations that possibly Sonali was the primary target of the accused as he was their neighbour for months and used to send gifts and bouquets for her. She said that it is possible that they both had an affair which took a serious turn further but all these are just speculations so far. “The police have not found any evidence that can be shared at this time but we are trying to get the location of the accused to nab him as soon as possible. The senior superintendent of police Manjunath TC has also announced a bounty on Jagdish’s head. He is a clever criminal and police are making all efforts to arrest him soon,” said Badola. She also appealed to the public to provide any information they have about the accused.
