Dozens of political workers and supporters of different parties including a state spokesperson of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. These political workers including those who had been expelled from the BJP in the past joined the party at its state office here on Tuesday in the presence of the party’s state president Madan Kaushik, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal and other party leaders. The AAP State spokesman Rakesh Kala was among those who were welcomed into the BJP by Kaushik and Bansal who is also the chairman of the screening committee for those willing to join the party.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the BJP state president said that as part of a process, many people from various districts had become members of the BJP on Tuesday. He said that all these people had joined the party by placing their trust in the policies and principles of the BJP. Stating that the BJP is a cadre based party, he said that people impressed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for development had made it the largest party in the world. Speaking to the media persons on the occasion, Kaushik said, “The BJP believes in works and the public assesses the works. In the 2017 Assembly elections, the people had assessed the works of the Congress and had barely provided it some place in the opposition. This time again, the BJP will enter the election foray on the basis of its development and service works,” said the BJP state president.
Those who joined the BJP on Tuesday included 13 persons from Champawat who joined under the leadership of GS Samant in addition to 20 block Panchayat members and 14 Gram Pradhans who joined the BJP at its Champawat district office.Three persons including a block Panchayat member from Ramnagar and one person from Almora also joined the party. While Rakesh Kala from Dehradun left the AAP to join the BJP, one person from Pauri also joined the party on the occasion.
