Dr Harish Pant assumes charge as CMO
Prioritises renovation of doctors’ quarters in rural areas
Tuesday, 30 JULY 2024 | PNS | NAINITAL
Soon after assuming charge as the officiating chief medical officer of Nainital district, Dr Harish Pant said that improving health facilities in the rural areas of the district would be his first priority. To achieve this, the residences of the doctors posted in the remote areas would be renovated to ensure that the doctors stay put in the villages, he said. According to him, the housing facility for doctors posted in hospitals in remote rural areas is scant and the houses meant for them which still are standing are in such a bad condition that the doctors come from far-off places where they live to attend to their medical duties in rural health centres. This is why, the doctors are not available in emergencies, he said.
Dr Pant further said that the national level health schemes dished out by the Centre and the State or district health departments would be publicised as widely as possible across the district so that maximum number of people are benefited.
